Johns Hopkins University, through its Center for the Study of American Government in Washington, D.C., offers in its Government Program a MA in Government with a Concentration in Securities Studies. The degree focuses on the role of government in protecting citizens from threats, both foreign and domestic, and offers courses in international relations, homeland security, and intelligence that teach the fundamentals of administering and preserving American security. Students are recent graduates and professionals who work full-time in the DC area in a variety of public and private sector organizations and attend classes in the evening. Graduates of the Program typically assume leadership positions in the executive branch, Congress, in consulting and lobbying firms, "think tanks," and advocacy organizations. Hopkins also offers federal executive training and a Certificate in National Security.
